Story and Photos by Ron Jeffers.

Jersey City firefighters and city officials assembled at Fire Headquarters on Marin Boulevard, today, for a ceremony that revealed the Fire Departments new 100-foot tower, manufactured by Pierce Manufacturing, Inc., of Appleton, Wisconsin.

Department chaplain, Rev. James Pagnotta, blessed the new truck and its firefighters.  Fire Chief Steven Mc Gill said it is a fire department tradition to bless a new fire apparatus before it goes into service.

In addition, Chief Mc Gill thanked Mayor Fulop and city officials for the acquisition of the new tower ladder model, that will operate from the Ocean Avenue firehouse in the southern end of the city.
