The New Jersey Globe is reporting that Bergen County Democratic Party Chairman Paul Juliano will be appointed as President and CEO of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, succeeding former Assembly Speaker and past Hudson County Democratic Party Chairman Vincent Prieto. Juliano’s appointment to this top position is seen as a testament to his leadership skills and experience in the sports industry. The move is expected in the next several months and has the strong support of Governor Phil Murphy.
Initially, according to the Globe article, Juliano will join the Sports Authority as Executive Vice President. He will then replace Prieto, who will leave the Authority.
Juliano, a career government administrator, was elected County Chairman after Louis Stellato was appointed to serve as an NJSEA Commissioner. He will step aside from his role as Fairview’s public works director by working at the Sports Authority.
Prieto has expressed confidence in Juliano’s ability to continue the work that he started. Prieto believes that Juliano has the necessary skills and experience to take the Sports Authority to the next level, and he is excited to see what Juliano will achieve in his new role.
The NJSEA oversees the Meadowlands complex, although a joint venture between the two NFL teams that play at MetLife Stadium, the Giants and the Jets, operates the stadium.
