The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has charged a 17-year old, Jersey City male with the fatal shooting of an 18-year old male in Jersey City on December 18, 2023.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the arrest was made yesterday.
18-year old Angel Regalado Guzman of Jersey City was shot shortly before 2:20 pm on Monday, December 18. He was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 4 -m from an upper body gunshot wound.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death to be homicide. The fatal incident took place inside of a residence on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City.
The 17-year old suspect has been charged as a juvenile with aggravated manslaughter, a first degree crime; possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a second degree crime; and unlawful possession of a weapon, also a crime of the second degree. No additional information will be released by the Prosecutor’s Office because a juvenile suspect was involved.
The juvenile is presumed innocent until guilty in a court of law.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for working collaboratively to achieve this arrest.
