Kearny & Newark Police Seek Public’s Help In Identifying Man Who Stole Vehicle Later Involved in Shooting

The Kearny and Newark Police Department’s are asking for assistance from the public in identifying an individual who stole a car which was later involved in a shooting.  The following message was posted by the Newark Police Department on Facebook this afternoon:

Newark Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspect in Shooting Investigation…
Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect who is wanted in connection with the theft of a vehicle used during a shooting in which three people were shot on May 4, 2022.
The incident, which is under investigation by the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team, occurred around 5:50 p.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on Irvine Turner Boulevard was struck by several gunshots fired from a black 2005 BMW stolen in Kearny on April 20, 2022.
The vehicle has since been recovered and the victims were transported to University Hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.
Director O’Hara urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
