Hundreds of mothers from Union City attended Saturday’s annual, Mother’s Day luncheon for senior citizens at the Colin Powell Elementary School.

Music, dancing, a fabulous hot meal, and meeting with friends and neighbors were all on tap for the afternoon, which was sponsored by Union City Mayor Brian Stack, the Board of Commissioners and the city’s Office of Senior Affairs.

Each attendee received a box of chocolates as they entered the school’s gymnasium, handed out by students from the high school’s Junior ROTC Program, who also distributed the meals to the seniors seated at the many tables set up in the gym.

All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon for everyone in attendance, filled with memories they will cherish forever..

The Mother’s Day luncheon is a city tradition going back more years than anyone can count.
