For the first time in ten years, the annual Macy’s July 4th fireworks display will launch over the Hudson River, rather than the East River, giving Hudson County waterfront towns a spectacular view.

Macy’s made the announcement in a press release, which stated, “This year’s display will feature thousands of shells and an array of effects from barges positioned along the Hudson River with multiple viewing opportunities in Manhattan between West 14th and West 34th Streets and in New Jersey.”

The Independence Day event will be the 48th edition of the fireworks extravaganza, and the first over the Hudson since it moved east in 2013.

The event will also air on NBC, Channel 4.
