On Sunday, July 10, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reports that members of the Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested 42-year old, Rogelio Rendon-Mejia of Hammonton, for committing a sex crime on a woman in West New York.
Suarez says the crime occurred in the early morning hours yesterday, Sunday, July 10, following a gathering in an apartment on 51st Street. Rendon-Mejia did not know the victim. Suarez says her 7- year-old son was present at the time the crime occurred.
Rendon-Mejia is charged with aggravated criminal sexual contact, a crime of the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the third degree. He was arrested at the West New York Police Headquarters and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first court appearance.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
