Mayor Fulop & HHS Award Grants To 23 Jersey City Nonprofits To Expand Youth Programming

Major news coming out of Jersey City, as the 2026 Opioid Settlement Fund Grant recipients have been announced.  Following a competitive application and review process administered by the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Partnership for a HealthierJC, Mayor Seven Fulop announced the grantees.  The Opioid Settlement Fund Grant Program supports evidence-based initiatives that address opioid prevention through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), with a focus on youth mental health programming, and equity-centered community engagement. The 2026 cycle includes three funding tiers: Summer, School Year, and Year-Long Programming. Awards range from $7,000 to $46,500 following the state-mandated Schedule B Approved Uses governing allowable opioid settlement expenditures.

“Announcing this year’s grantees is a powerful testament to Jersey City’s spirit and our collective commitment to protecting youth and strengthening families,” said Mayor Fulop. “Throughout my administration, we have invested in compassionate, evidence-based approaches to address the opioid crisis. These programs reflect the innovation, dedication, and community leadership that will continue to shape Jersey City’s future.”

A city press release says each selected organization demonstrates strong program design, measurable impact, and a commitment to supporting the youth and families of Jersey City. Proposals were evaluated by an independent review committee using a standardized rubric that assesses curriculum quality, organizational capacity, equity focus, budget structure, and anticipated outcomes.
