Mayor Reads To Kids As North Bergen Library Celebrates Dr. Seuss

As the country celebrated Read Across America Day on Thursday, the North Bergen Public Library welcomed Mayor Nicholas Sacco, who enthusiastically read one of Dr. Seuss’ most well known stories to a group of children…Hop on Pop.

About 20 kids and their families were in attendance for the Read Across America event.  The National Education Association created the program in 1998 to promote the importance and advantages of reading for young children.  Each year it is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss.

After Mayor Sacco finished reading to the children, four raffle winners were chosen to receive a $25 Amazon gift card.  Popcorn and cotton candy were available for the kids, with a puppet show ending the event, presented by Wonder Spark Puppets.

It was a fun and educational afternoon for everyone involved.
