Mayoral Candidate Nadrowski Blasts Bayonne Decision To Remove School Resource Officer From All Saints Catholic Academy

Bayonne mayoral candidate Sharon Nadrowski is demanding answers after the City suddenly discontinued the long-standing “Officer of the Day” service at All Saints Catholic Academy, calling the move “outrageous and deeply troubling for parents across our community.”   In a letter to families, the school confirmed that the city will end the practice of assigning a police officer to the campus during the school day. In a press release from her campaign, Nadrowski indicated that for years the officer’s presence during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the day provided an added layer of security and reassurance for students, staff, and parents. Now that practice is being ended with minimal notice and no reasoning given to parents.

Nadrowski stated, “As a mother, I am outraged.  Parents deserve to know why the city would suddenly remove a police officer from a school that has relied on that protection for years. At a time when school safety is on the minds of families everywhere, this decision sends the exact wrong message.”

Nadrowski noted that the decision comes just weeks after the city celebrated swearing in 14 new police officers, raising serious questions about priorities.  “If we have the resources to grow the police department, why are we taking an officer away from protecting children at a school?”

Nadrowski also pointed out that the city’s interim mayor Robert Kubert currently serves as Bayonne’s Public Safety Director and several current Council members are running in the May election, making the decision even more shocking. Nadrowski called on city leaders to immediately reverse the decision and restore the officer at the school.

“Parents deserve a clear explanation for how this decision was made and why protecting students at a local school is no longer considered a priority,” added Nadrowski. “This decision should be reversed immediately, the city should restore the Officer of the Day at All Saints Catholic Academy, and apologize to the families who are now being told that the safety presence they depended on is simply gone.”
