MENENDEZ, BOOKER ANNOUNCE $52M IN FEDERAL FUNDING TO COMBAT HOMELESSNESS ACROSS NJ
NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced a combined $52,486,276 in federal grants have been awarded to over 200 organizations and communities across New Jersey to bolster homelessness prevention programs.
“This funding will help thousands of men and women, families and veterans across the state access safe and reliable housing and obtain critical services they need to get back on their feet,” said Sen. Menendez.“These programs are crucial to helping New Jerseyans experiencing homelessness, especially during the pandemic. I applaud all of the local programs and their committed staff for their continued efforts towards ending the homelessness crisis across New Jersey.”
“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, communities and organizations across New Jersey are performing critical work to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness,” said Sen. Booker. “This federal funding will strengthen these efforts and help ensure that our state’s residents have access to safe and stable housing.”
The funds were awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care Program (CoC) to support permanent and transitional housing programs.
