The student body at West New York’s Middle School is in for a treat on Thursday.  The musical comedy “The Big Bad Wolf” will be staged by fellow classmates who have been in rehearsals since January.

More than 70 students in grades seven and eight are part of the production.

The play is set in the Enchanted Forest and is about a court case involving the Big Bad Wolf and some of the naughty, nasty things he has done.  It’s cute and features a bit of comedy.

According to vocal music teacher Cynthia Varrichio, the performing arts and musical theater are important, educational teaching tools.  They give students self confidence, stage presence and the ability of expression.

While Thursday’s performance is not open to the public, the school does plan on taping it and putting it on its webpage.
