Hoboken, Riverside Medical Group Partner With Bijou Properties To Continue COVID Tesing
Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla, Dr. Raj Brahmbhatt, and local developer Bijou Properties have partnered together to continue Riverside Medical Group’s COVID-19 testing for Hoboken residents at a new indoor location. Riverside Medical Group will begin utilizing space donated to them, rent-free by Bijou Properties, including a 25,000 square foot warehouse and 30,000 square foot parking lot at 351 16th Street, which will replace the testing site under the 14th Street Viaduct. The new site became necessary due to the colder weather in the winter months. With space of this size limited in Hoboken, Bijou Properties offered their site, one of few, to help the cause.
Hoboken residents and Riverside Medical Group patients without a vehicle should enter the new testing facility on Clinton Street between 15thand 16thStreets. Residents and patients driving to the facility should enter on 16thStreet between Clinton Street and Grand Street. The site will open on Saturday, November 28, with the previous location under the 14th Street Viaduct no longer in operation.
Testing at the location is by appointment only for Hoboken residents, available at http://www.hobokennj.gov/riverside. No walk-ins are permitted. Hoboken residents who are Riverside Medical Group patients should continue to call their Riverside primary care office for an appointment, and should not sign-up for a test online.
“Riverside Medical Group is thrilled to continue COVID-19 testing with Hoboken, and thanks Bijou Properties for providing space at a new location,” said Dr. Raj Brahmbhatt of Riverside Medical Group. “We are proud to play a central role in Hoboken in providing one of the few rapid testing sites in the area, and the Bijou facility will help us continue to provide this service to residents and our patients.”
“Especially as the weather gets colder and we battle a second wave, we are honored to partner with the City of Hoboken and Riverside Medical Group to support our community and frontline workers during this challenging time,” said Larry Bijou, Managing Partner of Bijou Properties.
“On behalf of the City of Hoboken, I thank Bijou Properties, Dr. Brahmbhatt and their teams for facilitating testing at this new location, to help keep Hoboken residents safe,” said Mayor Bhalla. “This new space will help protect the Riverside staff and residents during the winter weather, and provide more efficient testing for our City. Thank you also to our Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Health and the Department of Environmental Services for working throughout the week with the Riverside and Bijou teams on the new site, as well as Hudson County for providing the previous space under the 14th Street Viaduct.”
Riverside Medical Group began a partnership with the City in April to provide COVID-19 testing for Hoboken residents. The Riverside site was one of the first public testing sites to offer rapid, 15-minute tests in the tri-state region, and one of the first to begin testing asymptomatic patients. Since the start of the pandemic, Riverside has provided 15,000 COVID-19 tests for Hoboken residents.
