The City of Hoboken has announced that the North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA) project to repair and upgrade the combined sewer infrastructure at the intersection of Henderson Street and Observer Highway will be transitioning work-related closures, as the project advances ahead of schedule. The project is replacing existing underground infrastructure that is in poor condition to ensure reliable service and prevent future disruptions.
Beginning today, Monday, January 13th, at approximately 5 p.m., Observer Highway will re-open in both directions, between Henderson and Madison Streets.
Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14th, at approximately 8 a.m., westbound Newark Street will be closed between Adams and Jefferson Streets. Eastbound Newark Street will be closed between Madison and Jefferson Streets. These closures will be in effect 24/7 for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to last approximately six weeks.
Motorists should plan extra travel time and alternate routes during the construction. Temporary no-parking signs will be posted in advance of any restrictions.
