New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy this afternoon signed an Executive Order suspending all elective surgeries and invasive procedures for adults. The move is a direct result to further stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Effective Friday, March 27th at 5 p.m., all medical and dental elective surgeries and invasive procedures which can safely be postponed, as determined by the patient’s doctor or dentist, will be postponed.
The Governor went on to say, “with the dramatic shortfall in personal protective equipment,” it is vitally important that the state works to “strategically preserve supplies and equipment for emergency purposes only.”
As of 1 o’clock on Monday afternoon, New Jersey reported 935 new COVID-19 cases.
That brings the state’s total to 2,844. There are 7 new deaths in the state for a total of 27.
