NJ TRANSIT POLICE CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL AT HBLR 8TH STREET STATION.

The New Jersey Transit Police Department’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), in conjunction with federal, state, county and local partners, conducted a training drill at the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail 8th Street Station in Bayonne on Saturday morning. The drill was a simulated transportation incident, as fake smoke and firefighters ran through the building. The Bayonne Police Department, Bayonne Fire Department, Bayonne OEM, McCabe EMS and Hudson County OEM all participated in Saturday’s exercise. The New Jersey Transit conducts a number of drills and training sessions, simulating multiple scenarios in case it is ever needed. The simulation started at 9 am, with the street closed, and multiple police and fire vehicles in the area. New Jersey Transit is the largest public transportation system in the Nation, with more than 925,000 weekday trips across 253 bus routes.
