Wednesday was a special day for 6th graders in North Bergen.  It was “LEAD” Day.  “Lead” stands for Law Enforcement Against Drugs.  The curriculum replaced “DARE” approximately eight years ago.

Throughout the course of the school year, North Bergen Police Officers visited sixth grade classrooms throughout the district, teaching students the dangers of drugs. Having completed the curriculum, the students were treated to “LEAD” Day at the 64th Street Field.

There were sports activities, bouncy houses, lunch and a whole lot of fun.  It was the district’s way of congratulating the kids for completing the “LEAD” curriculum.

It was also another way for the students to spend time with the police officers and get to know them.  Six bicycles were also raffled off thanks to the PBA and the Police Superior officers unions.
