It was an enjoyable morning for North Bergen police and children who participated in the 2023 Summer Fun camp program at the lake in Braddock Park on July 19.
During the fifth annual “Cops and Bobbers” event kids learned to fish, with a little help from the North Bergen police and the equipment they brought along. For many of the kids, it was their first time fishing.
Numerous officers volunteered for the event, teaching fishing techniques and safety. Among those instructing the kids were Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, Police Chief Peter Fasilis, and County Commissioner Robert Baselice.
A collaboration between the NBPD and the Recreation Department, the event was unveiled in 2018 to provide the kids with an educational, entertaining outdoor activity that allowed them to interact with the police in a fun manner and build positive relationships.
