North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners cut the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony of the new, Police Department Downtown Substation on Wednesday, April 17.  The facility is located on the second floor of the Recreation Center and Downtown Library branch at 1231 Kennedy Boulevard.
The substation will primarily be staffed by EMT-trained police officer, Gisell Francisco.  Beginning on April 24th, the hours of operation will be Wednesday through Friday from 1 pm through 10 pm and on Saturday from 9 am until 6 pm.  Residents can stop by the substation to report incidents and file complaints.
The North Bergen Police Department’s main headquarters located at 4233 Kennedy Boulevard behind Town Hall remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The grand opening was attended by Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Commissioner of Public Safety Allen Pascual, Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Anthony Vainieri, Chief of Police Robert Farley, Lieutenant Alex Barrios, County Commissioner Bob Baselice, Assemblyman Julio Marenco, and Former Assemblyman Pedro Mejia.
