After a 26-year career in law enforcement, North Bergen Police Chief Peter Fasilis will retire on January 31st.  The announcement was made by Mayor Nicholas Sacco during an appearance on Hudson County View Live & Uncut with John Heinis.

Fasilis will be succeeded as Chief by Deputy Chief Robert Farley, Jr., whose family has a long history of police service in the township.  He is a 27-year veteran of the department.

Fasilis is credited with keeping crime low in the municipality, morale high in the department and increasing the force to a compliment of 154 officers.  He was named Chief in May 2020,

Farley will take over as Chief on February 1st.
