This afternoon via Facebook, the North Bergen Police Department made the following announcement:
The North Bergen Police Department is proud to announce that Officer Bryan Suarez recently completed a course titled Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Instructed by the New Jersey State Police.
A Drug Recognition Expert, commonly known as a DRE, is skilled in detecting and identifying individuals under the influence of drugs and identifying the category/categories of drugs causing the impairment. In order to receive the certification, officers must attend intensive classroom & practical training and must pass all required testing.
Officer Suarez is the first officer in the history of our department to obtain this certification. We congratulate him for successfully completing the course and obtaining the prestigious DRE certification.
