North Bergen Walmart Debuts HIV-Focused Specialty Pharmacy

Walmart’s first, HIV-focused, specialty pharmacy in Hudson County has opened in North Bergen on Tonnelle Avenue at 88th Street.   It is the company’s fourth such pharmacy nationwide and reflects Walmart’s commitment to bringing an end to HIV-AIDS.

In addition to providing customers with exceptional services for their prescriptions and their over the counter needs, the North Bergen Walmart will now offer additional services for customers with, or at risk for, getting HIV-AIDS.  There will be HIV-trained pharmacists, enhanced care coordination and healthy lifestyle recommendations.  The Hyacinth Foundation will provide testing on a regular basis.

Walmart provided numerous financial donations to non-profit organizations, ranging from $1,500 to $2,500.  Among those receiving grants were the National Kidney Foundation, the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, and the North Bergen Police Department.

In addition to the specialty pharmacy, the re-grand opening of the North Bergen store, which took seven months, includes expanded shopping options and an in-store redesign.

The other specialty pharmacies are located in New Brunswick, Monticello and Hartford.
