When Weehawken voters head to the polls on Tuesday, May 12th to vote for members of the Township Council, the only contested race they will find is for 2nd Ward Councilperson, as incumbent Councilwoman Rosemary Lavagnino has chosen not to seek re-election.
The Weehawken and You ticket, led by longterm Mayor Richard Turner, is seeking another four years in office. They are joined by 2nd Ward candidate Susan Morales-Jennings, a former Weehawken Board of Education Trustee. She is being challenged for the 2nd Ward council seat by Tina Iordamlis, who is running under the slogan Your Neighbor Your Voice.
The remaining candidates running on the Weehawken and You slate are Mayor Turner and Robert Sosa, running for At Large Council seats; 1st Ward Councilwoman Carmela Silvestri-Ehret and 3rd Ward Councilman David Curtis.
Residents do not vote for Mayor. Once the election is completed, the victorious Council members select the Mayor.
The polls will be open from 6 am until 8 pm on May 12th.
