An overflow crowd of over 200 Union City senior citizens attended Saturday’s Christmas luncheon at the Colin Piwell School.

Musical and ballet performances highlighted the afternoon, with a hot meal and great conversation with friends and neighbors to boot.  Of course Santa Claus made an appearance.  He happily took photos with the crowd.

The entertainment was provided by Union City’s own American Liberty Ballet, which performed routines from The Nutcracker.

The hot lunch consisted of rice, pulled pork and yuca root.  Members of Union City High School’s Junior ROTC, as they do at all city events, served the food.

Commissioners Wendy Grullon and Celin Valdivia were in attendance to welcome the senior citizens, who had smiles and their faces as they watched the ballet performances and chatted with friends and neighbors.

It was certaioly a great way to ring in the holiday season.
