SECAUCUS — Drivers who use the Paterson Plank Road eastbound ramp to Route 3 westbound in Secaucus will need a detour for about the next three weeks, the New Jersey Department of Transportation says.
The ramp was scheduled to close at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, along with the right lane on Paterson Plank Road eastbound after the Home Depot, according to an NJDOT traffic advisory issued Oct. 16. The department said the closures are needed to replace a deteriorated 48-inch corrugated metal pipe with a reinforced concrete pipe, and are expected to last approximately three weeks.
The detour
NJDOT says drivers on Paterson Plank Road eastbound who want Route 3 westbound should:
- Continue on Paterson Plank Road eastbound.
- Turn right onto the ramp to Route 1&9 southbound.
- Turn right onto the ramp to Route 3 westbound.
The drainage work is part of an NJDOT maintenance contract to restore stormwater facilities at locations in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties, the department said.
NJDOT said the precise timing of the work could change because of weather or other factors. Drivers can check 511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
Hudson TV asks: Will the Route 1&9 detour add real time to your trip onto Route 3 West, or will you barely notice it?
