One Track Now Cleared for Between Newark/JSQ; Riders Should Expect Trains at 30-minute Intervals
Following Earlier Suspension, Service Resumed This Morning on the Journal Square-WTC and Journal Square-33rd Street via Hoboken Lines
PATH resumed operations between Newark Penn Station and Journal Square (JSQ) starting at 2:30 p.m. today, February 2. With one track now clear, trains are scheduled to run every 30 minutes and restore service to Newark Penn and Harrison Stations.
Earlier today PATH resumed operations between JSQ-33rd Street via Hoboken and JSQ-World Trade Center, with trains running every 15 minutes. PATH has now restored service connections to all of its 13 stations in New York and New Jersey.
The reopening comes after crews worked overnight and through the morning in treacherous weather conditions to clear tracks. The process was slowed by 18 inches of snow on the ground covering the five miles of rail between JSQ and Newark as well as blustery winds and 3+ feet of snow drift in numerous locations.
PATH maintenance crews are continuing to work to clear the remaining tracks linking the JSQ and Newark stations and re-establish full service throughout the system. Updates will be provided as available.
