“This is a fraud.” That’s what President Donald Trump declared at approximately 2 o’clock this morning. “We don’t want them to find ballots and add them to the list.” President Trump, despite many of his advisors and his own Vice President Mike Pence saying we have to let the counting of votes to continue, falsely declared victory early this morning.
The reality is, this is an extremely close race for the Presidency. There are still many votes to be counted in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada. As of 7 o’clock today, the Electoral Map shows former Vice President Joe Biden with 224 electoral votes compared to President Trump’s 213. 270 are needed to win the Presidency. Biden is currently leading by a razor thin margin in the key swing state of Wisconsin.
The President early this morning reiterated there will be a legal challenge to the election. Trump was clearly angered by certain networks claiming Arizona was won by Biden. That state still has mail-in votes to be tabulated, as do each of the other battleground states.
Pennsylvania, for example, which has 20 Electoral College votes up for grabs, has upwards of 300,000 mail-in ballots to be tabulated. it is expected it will take the Keystone State another two days to finish their tabulation.
As in 2016, Trump is trailing in the popular vote, although it is tight.
Bottom line. As of 7 o’clock on the morning after Election Day, the American people do not know who will be sworn in as President on January 20, 2021.
