Cuban immigrant Ada Ferrer is a Pulitzer Prize winning author who graduated from West New York’s Memorial High School.
On Saturday night she visited the Musto Cultural Center in Union City, where she read from her third book on Cuba, titled, Cuba: An American History.
Saturday’s visit and book signing was sponsored by the Hudson County-based, non-profit, Cuban American Alliance For Leadership and Education.  The non-fiction book won the Pulitzer in 2022 for History.  It traces the history of the island from the time of Christopher Columbus until Fidel Castro.
The book was published in 2021.  It took Ferrer five years to write, but her research goes back as far as 1990, as she traveled to Cuba on numerous occasions to gather materials, facts and inspiration.
