Reports of shots being fired inside of a Bayonne home on West 33rd Street, shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning, have resulted in the arrest of 40-year old Jason J. Patel. According to Bayonne Police Captain Eric R. Amato, Patel was taken into custody at 5:56 from his residence.
An investigation determined that Patel, who appeared to be intoxicated when police arrived, had fired a starter pistol inside of the residence. The investigation also led to the recovery of a large capacity magazine for a .22 caliber rifle, various other caliber ammunition, a starter pistol, plus a substantial amount of marijuana.
Patel was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of the drug with intent to distribute, plus intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school.
There were no injuries reported.
