Search Underway After Paterson Man Is Shot in Car Early Sunday Morning

SHOOTING IN AREA OF MERCER STREET AND WARREN STREET IN PATERSON

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announceD that at approximately 3:35 a.m. this morning, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 35-year-old, male, Paterson resident arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center seeking treatment for non-fatal gunshot wounds.

Based on the initial investigation, the victim was in the area of Mercer Street and Warren Street in Paterson with friends, sitting in a motor vehicle, when an unknown male approached demanding the occupants’ belongings. The 35-year-old male was struck while attempting to escape. After being struck, the 35-year-old male sought treatment at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center. Members of the Paterson Police Department were able to locate a potential crime scene in the area of Mercer Street and Warren Street.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
