Secaucus: man barricaded at Plaza Gardens; Hudson County Regional SWAT on scene; shelter-in-place near Paterson Plank

SECAUCUS, N.J. — Secaucus Police and members of the Hudson County Regional SWAT team responded Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, 2026, to a barricaded subject at the Plaza Gardens apartment complex on Paterson Plank Road near First Street.

Police Chief Dennis Miller confirmed the SWAT/police presence at that intersection. Authorities initially asked the public to avoid the area just before 10 a.m. At 11:33 a.m., a shelter-in-place was issued for everyone in the area of 1300 Paterson Plank Road.

Mayor Mike Gonnelli said Secaucus Police and SWAT officers were trying to get the man to leave the apartment and that he was refusing to come out. Scene reporting as of about 12:20–12:34 p.m. ET still described the man as barricaded, with SWAT outside the apartment. Secaucus Police also asked the public, in a Facebook post, to avoid the area.
