Secaucus Defeats Union City To Win County Volleyball Championship

It was number one versus number two in Saturday’s, Hudson County girls volleyball championship match at West New York’s Memorial High School, a neutral site between Secaucus High School and Union City High School.

Unfortunately for Union City, they couldn’t replicate their magic from three days earlier against Hoboken High School in the semi-finals.  The Soaring Eagles fell in two games to the Patriots, by scores of 25-21 and 25-14, giving Secaucus its fourth straight county title.

The match was very competitive, particularly game one.

In the second game, with Secaucus leading by three points, two consecutive points seemingly went against Union City, propelling the Patriots to a fairly easy win and the county championship.

Secaucus High School clearly is the class of girls volleyball in Hudson County, but Union City High School is a very good squad, and should be a threat in the upcoming NJSIAA State Tournament.

Best of luck to both teams moving forward.
