Minus the wind, it was a gorgeous Saturday morning at the recently renovated Secaucus Duck Pond as local residents gathered for the 2021 Secaucus Fishing Derby in hopes of catching the biggest fish of the day. Registration for the derby began at eight o’clock, with the event itself kicking off an hour later at nine. Judges in attendance were at the ready to officially measure any fish caught and hand out awards once the last line cast was reeled in.
The 2021 Secaucus Fishing Derby was the first such derby held since 2019 (the 2020 event was cancelled due to covid-19 protocols) and hopes to be one of many events at the soon-to-be open Secaucus Duck Pond as the weather continues to get warmer.
