Secaucus Police Arrest Two Newark Men Involved in Home Invasion Attempts

On December 12, 2025 it was reported to the Secaucus Police that at 4:10 A.M., two masked males attempted to break into an Arn Terrace home with the purpose to steal the resident’s BMW that was parked in the driveway. The males arrived in a Hyundai that was reported stolen in Irvington. The males were startled by the home’s security system and fled the area. Secaucus Police Detectives responded and gathered evidence.

On December 17, 2025 it was reported to the Secaucus Police that at 4:54 A.M., three males arrived on Allan Terrace in a BMW X3 that was reported stolen from South Orange. Two males exited the vehicle and approached the residence and attempted to pry the window open, but were unsuccessful. Secaucus Police Detectives responded and gathered evidence.

Secaucus Police Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and identified Hakim White, 18, of Newark as one of the males who attempted to burglarize the Allan Terrace residence. He was arrested and charged on January 23, 2026.

In May of 2026, Detectives from the Maplewood Police Department contacted the Secaucus Police Detective Division and provided information relating to both of the aforementioned burglary attempts. After corroborating the information provided by the Maplewood Detectives, Zameer Suggs and Znajay Nelson, both, 18 of Newark were charged on July 6, 2026 with the attempted burglary of the Allan Terrace residence. Additionally, Znajay Nelson was charged with the attempted burglary of the Arn Terrace residence.

Zameer Suggs and Znajay Nelson are charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Residential Burglary [2C:5-1a(1)]/2C:18-2.2], Criminal Attempt to Commit Motor Vehicle Theft [2C:5-1a(1)/2C:20-10.1a], Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle [2C:20-10.2A], Participating in Auto Theft Trafficking Network [2C:20-18b] and Conspiracy to Commit Residential Burglary [2C:5-2a(1)]/2C:18-2.2] and Criminal Mischief [2C:17-3a(1)] for the Allan Terrace incident.

Znajay Nelson is charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Residential Burglary [2C:5-1a(1)]/2C:18-2.2], Criminal Attempt to Commit Motor Vehicle Theft [2C:5-1a(1)/2C:20-10.1a], Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle [2C:20-10.2A], Participating in Auto Theft Trafficking Network [2C:20-18b] and Conspiracy to Commit Residential Burglary [2C:5-2a(1)]/2C:18-2.2] for the Arn Terrace incident.

They are both lodged in area jails. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
