Police Arrests in Secaucus for the Week of August 9 to August 15

Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller has released the following information pertaining to arrests made in the municipality from August 9th through the 15th:

Secaucus Police Blotter: 08/09/2021-08/15/2021

  • On 08/09/2021 at 10:13 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 37 year old male, Shomari Morton of Hillside, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Newark, NJ in the amount of $300.00.  The Newark Police Department did release Mr. Morton on his own recognizance pending a future court date.  Mr. Morton was issued 3 motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.
  • On 08/10/2021 at 12:09 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel located at 40 Wood Avenue on a report from hotel management that cleaning services found a firearm located in one of the hotel rooms.  A systematic search of the surrounding areas was conducted for one of the actors who fled the scene at the time of police arrival.  During the investigation, the police arrested a 19 year old female, Monet Duran of Cedar Creek, TX for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm [2C:39-5B(1)], Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition [2C:39-3F(1)] and Possession of a High Capacity Magazine [2C:39-3J].  The actor who fled the scene was identified and a warrant for his arrest was issued consisting of the same charges.  Ms. Duran was issued her complaint summons and was released from police custody.
  • On 08/11/2021 at 12:07 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Harper Apartment Complex located at 100 Plaza Drive on a report of Criminal Mischief.  During the investigation, the police arrested a 23 year old male, Hamza Khan of Secaucus, NJ for Criminal Mischief, [2C:17-3A(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Alprazolam [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Crack Cocaine [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession with intent to Distribute CDS believed to be Alprazolam [2C:35-5B(13)] and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4D], a fire extinguisher used to break the car window.  Mr. Khan was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody.
  • On 08/12/2021 at 11:57 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 28 year old male, Timothy Kegley of Holmdel, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50].  Mr. Kegley was issued his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional 4 motor vehicle summonses and was released into the custody of a responsible adult.
  • On 08/14/2021 at 2:02 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 29 year old male, Nishir Rios-Figueroa of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Newark, NJ in the amount of $10,000.00 with a 10% option.  Mr. Rios-Figueroa was also found to have 4 additional outstanding warrants issued out of Newark, NJ totaling $700.00, along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Bass River, NJ in the amount of $650.00 with a 10% option and 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Union Township, NJ in the amount of $300.00 with a 10% option.  The police also arrested a 38 year old male, Kevin Mclean of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Newark, NJ in the amount of $100.00.  Mr. Rios-Figueroa was able to post bail for all involved warrants, was issued 5 motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.  Mr. Mclean was able to post bail for the involved warrant and was released from police custody.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
