Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato reports that 60-year old, Anthony Barker of Stegman Street in Jersey City was taken into custody on Friday afternoon at 1:27 for shoplifting $297.78 worth of merchandise from Costco. Barker was also issued a defiant trespassing charge.
Amato says, despite being told numerous times in the past that he was no longer permitted on the property, Barker ignored the directive.
In a separate incident on Friday, Islam Elgawli, a 30-year old from Emory Street in Jersey City, was arrested at 9:05 pm in the area of 55th Street and Broadway after a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle he was operating. Captain Amato says the vehicular stop led to the recovery of 549 grams of marijuana, 112 pills of a prescription legend drug, and more than $1,700 in suspected narcotic sale proceeds.
Elgawli has been charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute.
