Sires Votes For Gun Reform Provisions

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.  Congressman Albio Sires, on Friday, voted for the Bipartisan Background Checks Act.  The measure would require a background check on all sales, transfers or possession of a firearm in the United States.

The 8th District Democrat stated, “We lose far too many Americans to firearm deaths every year that are preventable.  Additionally, i am also an original cosponsor of H. R. 1296, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019, which would criminalize the sale or possession of any semi-automatic assault weapon or large capacity ammunition device.”

The Congressman went on to say that Americans overwhelmingly are in favor of these common sense gun reform provisions.  “I am glad to support these measures and help lead the drive for change towards meaningful gun reform.  I urge my colleagues in the House to bring these bills forward for a vote.”
