It was a frigid Saturday morning, but that did not lessen the spirits of West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez, the Board of Commissioners, members of the town’s Police Department and Department of Public Works’ employees, who distributed Thanksgiving turkeys at the town’s Housing Authority buildings and other senior apartments.
In addition, more turkeys were handed out on a first come, first serve basis at the municipal parking lot, located at Hudson Avenue and 55th Street. No preregistration was required.
Approximately 3,000 frozen turkeys were given out at no cost to the town’s taxpayers, as donations and COVID Stimulus funds were used to purchase the turkeys. This was the third time the Rodriguez Administration has distributed the turkeys since taking office, but the tradition goes back many, many years through prior administrations.
