WEST NEW YORK, N.J. — Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez and the Board of Commissioners are proud to announce the Rental Assistance Program for West New York residents who need assistance paying for rent. The program was created in order to prevent evictions from hurting West New York families, and is hosted in conjunction with the County of Hudson. The project is funded by Federal CARES Act funding allocated to the Town of West New York.
The application will be open from August 24, 2020 (at 8:00AM) through September 2, 2020 (at 5:00PM) and will be available to all West New York residents who meet the following qualifications: 1) Must be a West New York resident, 2) Must be able to show need for rental assistance due to COVID19, 3) Must have been current on rent as of March 1, 2020, 4) Must be able to pay rent after assistance is provided; and, 5) Must have income below the pre-established income limits (available on homepage).
“COVID-19 has affected us all and I am very proud to announce this rental assistance program that will bring peace of mind to some of the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Gabriel Rodriguez, Mayor of the Town of West New York. “From the beginning, our administration has been working with County leadership to provide our residents with the support they and their families need to get through this global pandemic.”

Residents are advised that a copy of their lease, documentation that you are facing eviction, and income documentation may be needed to apply. If you are unable to apply electronically, you may visit the Hudson County Division of Welfare at 257 Cornelison Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey 07302. “I urge those residents who need this assistance to visit the application site and to apply immediately,” continued Mayor Rodriguez. “We want to make sure all West New York families who need the support can access the application and request assistance.”
