North Bergen, NJ – The Township of North Bergen celebrated the 179th Anniversary of the Independence of the Dominican Republic in a special ceremony held at the North Bergen Town Hall earlier today. The event was hosted by Mayor Sacco and the Board of Commissioners and featured cultural performances, recognitions, and flag raising.
The celebration was held to honor the contributions of the Dominican men and women to the Township of North Bergen. “We are proud to recognize the contributions Dominican men and women have made to the fiber of the Township of North Bergen,” said Mayor Sacco. “I am delighted to join our Dominican community in celebrating the 179th Anniversary of their independence and vibrant cultural heritage.”
The event included a number of recognitions, including those for Hon. Angel Pichardo, Consul General of the Dominican Republic Consulate in NJ, Janeiro Matos, Radio Personality “El Jukeo” Mega 97.9, Manuel Ruiz, News Broadcaster and TV Personality, and Tony Bravo, Artist, Musician, and Composer.
The celebration took place at the North Bergen Town Hall located at 4233 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ, starting at 1:00 pm. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Dominican Republic and the Township of North Bergen’s appreciation for the Dominican community.
