Hudson County has announced that traffic will be impacted beginning on Monday, September 19 in Jersey City and West Hudson for various road and bridge work.
On Kennedy Boulevard, from Communipaw to Sip Avenues, the County will be installing High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST). The road must be dry for several days prior to installation of the product. The work is expected to take three days to complete. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.
Hudson, in conjunction with Essex County, has also announced that on or about Monday, September 19, weather permitting, bridge closures to vehicular traffic will begin. Work is anticipated to be done daily, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm with closures to vehicular traffic limited to one bridge at a time to limit traffic impact and delays.
The bridges will be Bridge Street, Clay Street and Jackson Street, which are operated jointly by Hudson and Essex Counties. Detour signage will be posted.
Sparwick Contracting of Lafayette, New Jersey has been awarded the contract to perform the work at a cost of $13,495,145.00, which will be divided equally between the two counties.
