When the Union City High School girls swim team competes in the Hudson County championship meet in Secaucus on Saturday, they will be seeking their 8th title in 9 years.

The 37-member squad went undefeated during the regular season for the second year in a row.  Swimmers and Head Coach Peter Sinagra and Assistant Coach Rina Rosales all agree; the girl’s commitment to their sport is what has made the high school so successful over the past decade.

Following Saturday’s County Championship meet, Union City will travel to Phillipsburg on Monday at 4 pm to take on Phillipsburg High School in the first round of the NJSIAA tournament.  Seeded 7th, the Soaring Eagles advanced to the second round of the state tournament last season before losing.  They are hoping to surpass that round this year.

Phillipsburg is seeded 6th.   Hud News wishes the girls the best of luck as they try to capture another County Championship before moving on to the state tournament.
