UCHS Girls Volleyball Advances To County Championship

Union City High School’s girls’ volleyball squad has advanced to Saturday afternoon’s, Hudson County Championship match against top-seeded Secaucus.

The second-seeded Soaring Eagles advanced to the title game by winning their semi-final contest against Hoboken High School by scores of 25-14 and 25-8 on Wednesday afternoon.

The match really was never in doubt.  The only time Union City hit a bit of a bump was at the start of the second game, when they trailed 4-nothing.  However, that quickly disappeared and Hoboken was sent packing back to the Mile Square City.  It was Union City’s third win over Hoboken this year.

Now, Union City faces its biggest test…Secaucus High School at 12-noon on Saturday afternoon for all the marbles…a Hudson County Championship!!  The match will be held at West New York’s Memorial High School.

Secaucus advanced by defeating fourth seeded Bayonne on Wednesday, in a tightly contest match, two games to none.

Best of luck to coach Naveed Khawaja and his very talented squad of young ladies.
