Union City held a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. remembrance ceremony at City Hall on Friday afternoon.

The ceremony featured students from the Union City High School Choir, City Commissioners, Superintendent of Schools Silvia Abbato and Curtis Harris, Union City’s African American of the Year and local businessman.

Harris received a City proclamation, presented by Commissioner Maryury Martinetti.

During the ceremony, Dr. King’s legacy of equality for everyone was remembered.

Commissioner Celin Valdivia spoke of the many changes made in the United States since Dr. King’s famous I Have A Dream speech six decades ago, but stressed that much more still needs to be done in our country to truly say equality for all has been achieved.
