Union City Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners gathered at War Memorial Plaza on Saturday morning to celebrate Veterans Day.
The Commissioners spoke of the importance our veterans mean in our society and why it’s important that school children learn of their sacrifices and what that means for our democracy.
Following some brief speeches, a wreath was placed at the foot of the monument honoring those who have served in past wars, many who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The most important message of the ceremony was to take a moment and remember those sacrifices, and if you see a veteran say thank you for the service and sacrifices they made so we all can live in a free democracy.
