UNION CITY IMPLEMENTS FURTHER RESTRICTIONS AND CLOSURES  AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE AMID CONCERNS OF THE CORONAVIRUS

(Union City, New Jersey) – Amid concerns regarding COVID 19 (the “Coronavirus”), the City of Union City along with the Union City Board of Education announces the following closures and restrictions:

• Union City Board of Education  has closed all schools until further notice
• All private daycares in Union City are closed until further notice
• Union City Municipal Court and Landlord/Tenant Court are closed until further notice
• All Union City Recreation, Senior Citizens activities and Library are cancelled until further notice
• Union City Parking Authority is extending expired or set to expire parking permits for 30 days.
• Visiting City Hall should be limited to urgent matters only.  If business can be conducted over the phone or through the website, we encourage residents to do so.
• The City of Union City will institute a curfew of 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM until further notice.  Residents are required to stay in their homes at this time barring emergencies and exempting those reporting for work.
• Additionally, all gyms, bars, restaurants, movie theatres and casinos are closed 24/7, indefinitely until further notice. The only exceptions to restaurants are drive-thru, delivery or curb-side take away only.
• All other business should also follow the curfew of 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM with the exceptions of pharmacies, gas stations and grocery stores.

“At this time, there are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Union City, but with that being said, we are taking serious precautions to ensure that the public’s health, safety and welfare are the first priority,” said Mayor Brian P. Stack.  “We are speaking with federal, state and local agencies around the clock and assessing the situation.  I understand that these restrictions and closures can be inconvenient and troublesome, but I ask for everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.  If anyone needs assistance, please contact me or my office.”

UNION CITY IMPLEMENTA MÁS RESTRICCIONES Y CIERRES COMO MEDIDA DE PRECAUCIÓN EN MEDIO DE PREOCUPACIONES DEL CORONAVIRUS

(Union City, Nueva Jersey) – En medio de las preocupaciones relacionadas con COVID 19 (el “Coronavirus”), la Ciudad de Union City junto con la Junta de Educación de Union City anuncia los siguientes cierres y restricciones:

• La Junta de Educación de Union City ha cerrado todas las escuelas hasta nuevo aviso
• Todas las guarderías privadas en Union City están cerradas hasta nuevo aviso
• La Corte Municipal de Union City y la Corte de Propietarios / Inquilinos están cerrados hasta nuevo aviso
• Todas las actividades de recreación de Union City, actividades para personas mayores y biblioteca esta canceladas hasta nuevo aviso
• La Autoridad de Estacionamiento de Union City está extendiendo los permisos de estacionamiento vencidos o programados para expirar por 30 días.
• Visitas al Ayuntamiento debe limitarse solo a asuntos urgentes. Si el asunto se puede llevar acabo por teléfono o a través de la página web, alentamos a los residentes a que lo hagan.
• La Ciudad de Union City instituirá un toque de queda de 10 PM a 5 AM hasta nuevo aviso. Los residentes deben permanecer en sus hogares en este momento,  excepto en casos de emergencia y aquellos que van a trabajar.
• Además, todos los gimnasios, barras, restaurantes, cines y casinos las 24 horas, los 7 días de la semana,  permanecerán cerrados hasta nuevo aviso. Las únicas excepciones son para restaurantes con servicio de recogida y entrega.
• Todos los demás asuntos también deben seguir el toque de queda de 8:00 p.m. a 5:00 a.m., con la excepción de las farmacias, gasolineras y supermercados.

“En este momento, no hay casos confirmados de Coronavirus en Union City, pero dicho esto, estamos tomando precauciones serias para garantizar que la salud, la seguridad y el bienestar del público sean la primera prioridad”, dijo el alcalde Brian P. Stack . “Estamos hablando con agencias federales, estatales y locales durante todo el día y evaluando la situación. Entiendo que estas restricciones y cierres pueden ser inconvenientes y problemáticos, pero pido la paciencia y comprensión de todos durante este tiempo.
