45-year old, Union City resident Marvin Flores Ortiz, has been charged by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Regional Collision Investigation Unit with hit-and-run after he struck a male pedestrian in December. According to Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on December 20, 2023, shortly past 11 am, Ortiz allegedly struck a 71-year old, male near Central Avenue and Ferry Street in Jersey City, resulting in the victim sustaining serious injuries.
Suarez says Ortiz faces charges of Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a third degree crime, and Endangering a Injured Victim, also a third degree crime.
Ortiz was arrested on Friday, January 26 in Secaucus pending his first court appearance on February 13.
The charges against Ortiz are only allegations at this time.
