With numerous retirements having taken place, the Union City Police Department swore in ten new officers on Thursday afternoon during a ceremony held at the William Musto Center on 15th Street.

In addition, one officer, Andrew Rodriguez, was promoted to the rank of sergeant.  He has been on the force for nearly ten years, the last six full time.  Prior to that he was a Class 2 part timer.

The newly hired recruits will now spend 21 weeks training at the Passaic County Police Academy.  One officer, Damian Middlebrooks, is transferring from another jurisdiction.  He will immediately go on patrol.

The Union City Police Department now has approximately 160 officers.
