Union City Sponsors Autism Awareness Fair

The City of Union City teamed up with the local Board of Education to hold an Autism Awareness Fair to educate the public on Saturday.

This developmental disorder is caused by differences in a person’s brain.  Saturday’s event featured many physical and interactive activities for children afflicted with autism.

              There were also many agencies on hand providing information about autism, including the Department of Health and Human Services and Autism New Jersey.

              According to Assistant Union City Superintendent of Schools Geri Perez, the school district held Saturday’s fair to ensure the public was well educated about autism, which is becoming a more familiar situation for many families.

April is Autism Awareness Month in the United States.
