It will be a special day in the United States this Sunday if you have a sibling who is your twin.  It will be National Twin Day.   It was a particularly special day today if you attend the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Union City, as the school held a special breakfast to celebrate those students who are twins.

National Twin Day used to be celebrated the first weekend in August, but in 2019 it was decided that National Twin Day would be observed on December 18.  Since the 18th is Sunday, and there’s no school, the Jefferson School held its observance today.

Why did the school decide to have today’s event?  Well, this year the Thomas Jefferson School has eight sets of twins!  The school celebrated by enjoying a special performance and creating an art project.  And if you didn’t know, there were two special guests in attendance;  Union City Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Silvia Abbato, and her twin, Mrs. Adriana Birne, the Director of the District’s Early Childhood Center who serves as Director of the Board of Education’s Early Childhood Education program.

Everyone had a great time celebrating the special bond that twins share and the District and the Jefferson School Administration thanked all the parents and guests who celebrated Friday’s special morning.
